Tony Pitocco School Director / Head InstructorTony Pitocco has been working professionally in the makeup industry for the better part of 25 years. He trained under Joe Blasco in Hollywood, and taught there as well as assisting Mr. Blasco and Matthew Mungle in several television commercials.
Some of Tony's other credits include, the Hollywood production "Short Eyes", turning character actor Christopher Weeks into a young James Cagney, an episode of "One Fine Afternoon", and other film, TV and music videos.
His more recent work includes over-seeing Sears fashion show makeups, "Storm Warnings" for the Discovery Channel, CKVR's fall promotional TV spots, Gene Simmons of KISS for "Lucky Breaks" on STAR TV, as well as numerous TV commercials such as London Life, Centennial Real Estate and countless photo shoots, and has appeared on Breakfast Television promoting the School of Makeup Art.
Tony was recently appointed school director and is currently in his 7th year as an instructor at the School of Makeup Art while continuing to free lance as his schedule permits.
Laura Mac Con Instructor
Laura Mac Con has been working as a freelance make-up artist in Toronto for nearly ten years and has been with the School of Makeup Art since 1999. Laura has studied in both college and with private artists, including legendary special effects master, Dick Smith. Here at the school she teaches beauty, special effects, and medical camouflage therapy.
Laura was nominated for a Gemini Award in 2003 for Achievment in Make-Up. The film "Le Mozart Noir" won its category at the Colorado International Television Festival. Laura continues to do freelance work on feature films, music videos, commercials and television series.
Kelly Probyn-Smith Instructor
Kelly is a make-up and wig artist whose passion is theatre. She has trained at Mannequin Model & Talent Agency, Ryerson Polytechnic University and the Canadian Opera Company. She has done work for the film, video and television industry but primarily works in theatre. Kelly can often be found on the seasonal roster of the Canadian Opera Company's make-up & wig department and has also worked traditional, dance & musical theatre productions on large and small scales. She enjoys teaching and is sometimes found working as an advisor with Ryerson Theatre School as well as teaching Basic Wigs at the School of Make-up Art. She has been working in the industry for over 10 years.
Some of Kelly's credits include, Beauty & the Beast, The Student Prince, The Land of Smiles, Un Ballo In Maschera, The Battered Bride, Otello, The Golden Ass, La Traviata, La Boheme, and The Lion King.
Anne K. Sowden, AICI CIP Instructor
Anne Sowden is Managing Director of Here’s Looking at You, which coaches clients to increase self-confidence and effectiveness in achieving their goals through enhancement of their visual appearance and personal presentation.
Prior to starting her own company, she had 10 years of management experience in marketing and communications with Deloitte & Touche and Price Waterhouse. Anne’s other work experience includes financial services, consumer products and government sectors.
Anne’s focus at The School of Make-Up Art is educating the students on the business aspects of the industry. Communication, portfolio’s, how to start a business, resumes, business cards, invoicing and how to get a job.
As an image consultant, Anne has been a keynote speaker at a variety of corporate and association meetings. She has written articles for trade magazines and newsletters and been interviewed by Fortune Magazine, BBC World Service, Profit Magazine, Talk TV and the National Post. She teaches Style and Image at the School of Makeup Art in Toronto.
She received certificates in Image Consulting from George Brown College and Colour Analysis and Advanced Colour Analysis from The International Image Institute. She is Vice President, President-Elect and VP, Communications of AICI Toronto (Association of Image Consultants International) and has served on the boards of the American Marketing Association and Ballet Jorgen.
Rob Tremblay Instructor
Rob Tremblay is a makeup artist with more than a decade's worth of work as a trainer, teacher and artist. He has shared his knowledge of historical, multi-cultural, theatrical, performance, talent, and client applications as an instructor at some of North America's most reputable schools. Utilizing his in-depth knowledge of film, photography, stage and colour theory.
